Having breakfast out: a great opportunity for your business

The most classic winter festivities have arrived and, paradoxical as it may sound, no one wants to stay at home. Buying gifts, admiring the city’s decorations or having a hot drink and enjoying the holidays are all very appealing ideas at this time of year. That’s why it is crucial to prepare your establishment for these festivities.

The festive season is here, and plans are multiplying in every city: see the lights that flood the streets and public places, visit the Christmas and craft markets, have fun with the free activities organised by museums and institutions, listen to carol signing, go to the Three Wise Men parades, do some shopping...it’s all about leisure in this season! And, of course, since they want to make the most of the day, many people also go out for breakfast, lunch or a snack.

And, although you want to be out and about and doing the shopping for these festivities, it’s also necessary from time to time to stop briefly and recharge your batteries. So, if you have a bakery or cafeteria, you should know that these weeks are among the busiest of the year. Once you’re aware of this, it’s important to be prepared so you don’t run short of anything.

How to choose with all the variety of products on offer? Well, especially, sweet things. These tend to be much more appetising in winter than in summer, and for a curious reason: during winter, with its far fewer hours of sunlight per day, melatonin (a hormone related to sleep quality and mood enhancement) is affected. As a result, people often feel a certain apathy, irritability or sadness during the winter, a situation that, according to experts, may lead to their needing to consume more carbohydrates, such as sweets. It should be remembered that it never hurts to pamper yourself, especially in the festive season, but that this should always be as part of a balanced diet.

In any case, and bearing in mind that sweets are more appetising during the winter months, it’s natural to wonder what to add to your display to meet your customers’ needs. Two products thus become especially important: the intense croissant and the caramel pain au chocolat.

The triumph of sweet things

The distribution of frozen pastries will be a success in your business. Why? Because the frozen puff pastry dough lets you preserve products with all their qualities intact until you decide to give them a blast in the oven and leave them where your customers can see them. This is also possible, of course, in the case of the intense croissant and the caramel pain au chocolat.

The intense croissant is a butter croissant which - how could it be otherwise features the intense flavour of this star ingredient. But not just that, since the butter is accompanied by exquisite aromatic caramel notes that are simply sublime. On the other hand, its active sourdough lends this croissant tenderness and gives the crumb moisture, as well as greater durability; so it stays fresh for longer. There’s no doubt that having frozen croissants in your establishment will be a safe bet.

And, if we’re talking about puff pastry pains au chocolat, what about the caramel one, a delicious product with a very original filling that can help you to complete the range you offer at your business. Made with 29% traditional butter and filled with real caramel cream, it also offers a subtle savoury touch (24% filling). Added to that is the fact that it is bathed in egg and decorated with finely chopped peanuts, making it totally irresistible to those who see it.

The festive season is the best time to show off sweet things such as the intense croissant and the caramel pain au chocolat, so don’t hesitate to include them in your bakery or cafe if you want to score a hit over the holidays.
